Leadership Communication Studio

The invisible gap

Being competent and being seen as competent are two different things.

In a second language you are doing two jobs at once. Thinking about the problem, and thinking about the sentence. Only one of them shows up in your performance review.

Perceived competence is built in three layers at the same time. Most professionals have only ever been trained in one of them.

  1. The language layer

Rhythm, stress and phrasing decide how much effort your listener spends. When the effort goes up, attention to your idea goes down, even when every word is correct.

  2. The culture layer

What sounds respectful in Seoul, São Paulo or Munich can sound hesitant, indirect or blunt somewhere else. Your intent stays the same. The reading of it changes.

  3. The strategy layer

Senior audiences listen for the decision, the risk and the ask. A brilliant analysis delivered in the order you discovered it rarely gets the credit it deserves.

None of these is a deficiency. Each one is a skill, and skills respond to deliberate practice.

The transformation

What you are working toward, in behaviors you can hear.

People ask you to repeat key points, or nod politely and move on.

Your key terms, numbers and conclusions are the parts people hear first.

Your updates are thorough and the point arrives late.

You open with the decision a senior listener needs, then support it.

Politeness habits read as uncertainty in English.

You state a position with conviction and keep the warmth.

An unexpected question scrambles your structure.

You buy a moment gracefully and answer the question that was asked.

The room agrees with your idea, and nothing happens.

You frame ideas around what stakeholders care about and close with a clear ask.

Disagreeing feels like a choice between too blunt and invisible.

You calibrate directness for the room, and the relationship holds.

These are the intended learning outcomes of the Studio. Results depend on your practice and context, and no specific career outcome is promised.

Why this Studio is different

Executive coaching ignores language. English programs ignore strategy. You need both.

01 · Strategy

Executive communication

How senior audiences listen, decide and judge credibility. Structure, framing and influence for leadership rooms.

02 · Language

Linguistic precision

The specific demands of leading in an additional language. Intelligibility, delivery and phrasing that carry authority.

03 · Culture

Communication judgment

Reading directness, hierarchy and expectations across international teams, and adapting without losing yourself.

04 · Performance

Practice you can observe

Realistic scenarios, your own recordings and clear criteria, so improvement is something you can actually hear.

The Studio sits where these four meet, which happens to be exactly where international leaders spend their working day.

How learning works

You cannot watch your way into speaking differently.

Every Performance Lab follows the same five movements, so knowledge turns into a habit you can use on Monday morning.

  1. Diagnose

Record yourself in a realistic moment and identify the one or two patterns that matter most.

  2. Observe

Compare contrasting responses to the same situation and see precisely why one lands.

  3. Reconstruct

Rebuild your message using the structure, language and cultural calibration it needs.

  4. Perform

Deliver it aloud under realistic pressure, on camera, more than once.

  5. Evaluate

Assess your recording against observable criteria and decide what to practice next.

Inside a Performance Lab

Sixty seconds, one hallway, one CEO.

A sample from The Executive Briefing, shown so you can see how a lab works. It is an illustration of the format, not a transcript of a real learner.

Capability 02 · Strategic ClarityThe Executive Briefing · Sample
The scenario

"Where are we on the launch?"

Your product launch has slipped by three weeks. The vendor problem behind it is now resolved. Your CEO stops you on the way into another meeting and asks for an update. You have about sixty seconds and their full attention for maybe twenty of them.

Response A So, as you know, in September we started having some issues with the vendor, and then the testing team found a few things, and we've been working really hard on it, so I think we should be okay, maybe a bit later than planned…

Accurate, honest and in chronological order. The CEO still does not know the new date, the risk, or whether to worry.

Response B We're launching November 18, three weeks later than planned. The vendor delay that caused it is resolved. The one remaining risk is holiday traffic, and you'll have my mitigation plan by Friday.

Date first, cause second, risk named, next step committed. Four sentences, and the CEO can walk into the next meeting informed.

Your practice

Choose a real update from your own work. Reconstruct it with the briefing structure, record it in under sixty seconds, then answer the follow-up the lab gives you: "Why didn't we know sooner?" Record both again after reviewing.

Assessment criteria
  • The listener knows the headline within the first sentence
  • Cause and risk are named without over-explaining
  • A specific next step and date are committed
  • The follow-up answer stays structured under pressure

Cultural Communication Calibration

One message. Three rooms. Three right answers.

International leaders rarely fail because they say the wrong thing. They say the right thing in a way that was calibrated for a different room. Calibration is a signature skill of the Studio, built into every capability rather than added at the end.

What you need to say The timeline is not realistic.
Room one

A flat, direct team that values speed

I don't think eight weeks is realistic. Twelve is achievable, and here's why.

Directness reads as competence here. Cushioning would read as uncertainty.

Room two

A senior leader in a more hierarchical culture

I want to make sure we protect this launch. Based on what we've seen, twelve weeks gives us a much safer path. May I walk you through it?

The concern is just as clear. It is framed as protecting their goal, and the decision stays with them.

Room three

A consensus-oriented group

Before we commit, could we look at the timeline together? The testing data suggests we may need closer to twelve weeks.

The group reaches the conclusion with you, which is how commitment is built in this room.

  • DirectnessHow explicitly concerns are stated
  • HierarchyWho decides, and how they expect to be addressed
  • ContextHow much background a room expects first
  • PaceHow fast decisions are expected to happen

No style on this page is the correct one. The skill is reading the room and choosing, while still sounding like yourself.

Measure your progress

Your own recordings are the evidence.

Communication progress is easy to feel and hard to see. Three performance checkpoints make it visible, using the same criteria each time.

Checkpoint one

Baseline

A short executive scenario, recorded before you begin, and assessed against the Studio criteria to set your starting profile.

Checkpoint two

Midpoint

After the Authority stage of the journey. A new scenario, the same criteria, and a recalibrated plan for the second half.

Checkpoint three

Final

The Integrated Executive Performance Challenge, compared side by side with your baseline recording.

Your Leadership Communication Playbook

A personal reference you build as you go, so the Studio's thinking is with you before your next important meeting.

  • Your signature patternsThe two or three habits that matter most for you, from your own diagnostics.
  • Your go-to structuresBriefings, recommendations and disagreements, in the versions that work for you.
  • Your calibration notesHow you adapt for the specific rooms and stakeholders you work with.

Assessments in the Studio are self-directed. You score your own recordings against the published criteria. They are not individually reviewed and do not constitute a certification. Personal expert feedback is part of the Leadership Communication Accelerator.

Questions

Before you decide.

Who is the Studio for?

Accomplished international professionals who lead in English as an additional language. That includes executives, founders, directors, senior managers and high-potential professionals preparing for larger roles.

My English is already strong. Is this still relevant?

Very much so. The Studio assumes strong professional English. It does not teach grammar or vocabulary, and it is not accent elimination. It develops how your expertise is structured, delivered and received in the moments that matter.

Will it work for my culture and my workplace?

The Studio does not ask you to adopt one "correct" style. It teaches you to read directness, hierarchy and expectations in each room and choose deliberately, while keeping your own identity.

How much time does it take?

Most labs are designed to fit into a focused session or two. Many leaders work through one lab a week. You can also go straight to the lab you need before a specific meeting.

How does self-directed learning work here?

Each lab guides you through Diagnose, Observe, Reconstruct, Perform and Evaluate. You record your own responses and assess them against clear criteria. Nothing is left to guesswork, and nobody is grading you but you.

What is available right now?

The current status of every component is shown in the curriculum and in Pricing and access. Only items marked "Available now" have been published. Everything else is scheduled and released to every buyer as it is completed.

When will the rest of the Studio be released?

Labs are released progressively, with the complete Studio targeted for May 2027. Buyers are notified by email as each part is published.

What does lifetime access mean?

You keep access to the complete self-directed Studio, including future self-directed additions, if any, for as long as the Studio is offered, under the published access terms. There is no subscription.

Is coaching or personal feedback included?

No. The Studio is self-directed. Individual coaching, expert feedback and accountability are part of the Leadership Communication Accelerator, which includes Studio resources.

Can my company purchase the Studio for employees?

Yes. Individual employer-sponsored purchases are welcome, and organizations interested in access for a group can request information here.

What is the refund policy?

Refund terms are being finalized and will be published here before founding enrollment opens.
